Tips for being a rockstar Client!

Often some situations arise that can make a tattoo session more difficult on both the artist and the client. These situations can be quite common. So in an effort to help the tattoo process be as fun and easy going as possible for both of us I’ve put together a list of a few things every client to do to be prepared for their big day!

  • Talk to your Dr. before getting tattooed

Talk to you Dr. if you have any medical conditions (skin conditions especially) to make sure you’re able to be tattooed without any health issues arising.

  • Get good sleep the night before

It will have you feeling energized and more ready to take on the day and your tattoo. Mindset has a huge effect on your experience.

  • Eat a good breakfast

A good breakfast ensures good blood sugar and energy levels for your body to handle the stress of getting a tattoo.

  • Show up on time

If you would like to come in a bit early, 10-15 mins is great.  I try to set up before you show up so you don’t have to wait on me. Any earlier and you’ll be doing just that.

  • Bring snack and drinks

Food and drink will help your body maintain good blood sugar and energy levels. This is even more so necessary if you have special diet requirements.

  • Be open minded

If I have suggestions or concerns with the design please know my only desire is to give you the best tattoo possible. Please take my advice as it comes with years of experience.

  • Cry on the inside

Yeah we know, it hurts… but don’t be that guy.

  • Let me know if you need a break

Breaks are fine if you need a few minutes when dealing with a particularly spicy spot. But if you’re running to the bathroom every 30 minutes or so to hide and cry I may choose to end the session. (Yeah we noticed… you thought you were the only one to think that up?)

  • Don’t bring and entourage

Getting tattooed is fun and bringing along a friend or two to enjoy the experience with you is fine. However 4 or 5 people who are just there for “emotional support” may make it harder for us to operate for those waiting to get tattooed. At doomsday tattoo only the client is allowed in the station while being tattooed. Your friends will be asked to wait in the lobby.

  • Leave your pets at home

Yes that includes your “ESA” animal… no we’re not going to make ink prints of your dog’s paws. You should do that beforehand at home. Animals are a health code violation and a contamination risk and cannot by law be allowed in the station area.

  • Dress appropriately

We can’t tattoo an area if we can’t get to it. If you want a back piece wear a button up shirt so we can get to it and you can cover all other necessary areas. If you want to tattoo your thigh wear shorts.

  • No sunburns

Try to limit your time spent in the sun the day before your appointment. Obviously normal exposure is fine just don’t spend hours out there. Sunburned skin can’t be tattooed and needless to say would hurt like hell even if we could.

  • HYGIENE

If you work a job where physical labor is involved or you’re at the gym before your apt take a lil time to run home and rinse off. We’re gonna be pretty close for a bit. Every tattooer on the planet appreciates it.
